The Oregon Bioscience Association (Oregon Bio) is seeking a dedicated Success Coordinator in Portland, OR, to play a crucial role in supporting program participants throughout their apprenticeship journey. The Success Coordinator will focus on identifying and addressing barriers, fostering connections, and providing mentorship to enhance the overall success of apprentices in the bioscience industry.

Location: Hybrid role near downtown Portland, with 80% remote work and occasional onsite event support and travel within Oregon
Start Date: April 2024
Compensation: $65,000 annually, plus comprehensive benefits package and paid time off
Responsibilities
- Identify and address barriers and obstacles faced by program participants, collaborating with relevant agencies to facilitate their removal.
- Create individual development assessments and plans for each apprentice, conducting weekly check-ins to monitor progress and provide necessary support.
- Establish connections between apprentices and their families with essential resources related to basic needs and household support.
- Organize orientation sessions and celebratory events for both apprentices and employers to foster a positive learning and working environment.
- Offer guidance and mentorship to participants throughout the entire apprenticeship journey, from initial enrollment through to post-apprenticeship phases.
- Help develop strategies to enhance work readiness skills, supporting participants in achieving their self-sufficiency goals.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions on work readiness and employment-related topics to empower program participants.
- Collaborate with employers to monitor the progress of apprentices, ensuring they meet program requirements and expectations.
- Support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) activities within the apprenticeship program.
- Coordinate with Apprenticeship Coordinator to maintain up-to-date and accurate participant records.
- Collaborate with the Community Engagement and Workforce Development Manager on all initiatives, projects, and strategies.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience collaborating effectively with diverse communities.
- Proven experience in mentorship, career counseling, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with program participants, families, and employers.
- Knowledge of relevant community resources and agencies to address barriers faced by apprentices.
- Ability to create and implement individual development assessments and plans.
- Organizational skills to coordinate orientation sessions, celebratory events, and workshops effectively.
- Familiarity with work readiness strategies and the ability to develop and implement them for program participants.
- Collaboration skills to work closely with employers and agencies to monitor apprentice progress.
- Commitment to promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the apprenticeship program.
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with computer basics and MS Office 365.
